To get film buffs at the Toronto International Film Festival behind the wheel of Ford’s latest Mustang GT, Bully teamed up with Cinco and created a VR experience that transported participants from a suburban garage to the surface of Mars and back again.

Created to tie into the world premiere of The Martian, users sat in the driver’s seat and put on the Oculus headset – which was introduced as “the future of filmmaking” – and were directed as if they were actors in a high octane action sequence.

Their reactions were filmed, posted and shared through social media. Here’s a peek at the experience!

AR Brings Upcoming Product to Life

Working with The Integer Group, Bully! developed the Slingshot 360 app to give potential Polaris Industries customers a way to experience the unique 3-wheeled roadster, before becoming available in dealerships.

By scanning a takeaway piece — customized business cards from one of the more than 400 Polaris dealerships across the country — a highly detailed, 3D model of the Slingshot appears in Augmented Reality. Users can rotate the roadster 360 degrees and move in to get a close look at the interior and dash.

By tapping on one of the 5 hotspots that float around the vehicle, customers can read about key features, view enlarged photos, and watch videos that highlight the roadster’s distinct experience. A snap-and-share social integration also gives users the opportunity to snap a photo of Slingshot and share it across social media networks.

Planned enhancements for the app include support for rug-sized markers used to spawn life-sized roadsters on the dealership floor and poster-sized giveaways, so consumers can see how the Slingshot looks in their driveway.

Available for both iOS and Android.

Building on the partnership with CINCO Interactive, Bully! created a Kinect-driven kiosk experience promoting the 2013 Ford Fusion for Ford of Canada.

Simply walk up to the Unity 3D-based experience, put out your hands as if grasping a steering wheel, and start driving the Fusion. Answer trivia questions correctly by changing lanes and the game speeds up. Best the Park Assist Challenge game by beating the quick 17 seconds the Fusion takes to park itself, and if you manage to place in the top ten, a special giveaway is yours.

Built with a multiple deployment platforms in mind, the same content was ported to an iPad app where the accelerometer was utilized for steering – turning the iPad right or left switched lanes – and tilting the iPad, as if playing with a marble on the screen surface, enabled the Park Assist challenge. Both kiosk and app featured localization allowing CINCO to engage French speaking festival goers in Quebec, and the next weekend set up in English speaking Toronto for a car show.

Initially launched at Montreal’s Franco Folies Music Festival, the experiences are slotted for events across Canada throughout 2013.
